Japan travel guide
Japan blends neon cities, ancient temples and mountain scenery, all linked by fast, punctual trains. A first trip usually covers Tokyo and Mount Fuji, often extending to Kyoto and Osaka.
Places to include
- Tokyo — Shibuya Crossing, Senso-ji temple in Asakusa, Shinjuku, and views from Tokyo Skytree.
- Mount Fuji and Hakone — Lake Ashi cruises, the Hakone ropeway and hot-spring stays.
- Kyoto — Fushimi Inari’s torii gates, Kinkaku-ji and the Gion district.
- Osaka and Nara — street food in Dotonbori and Nara’s deer park.
When to go
Late March to early April for cherry blossoms and November for autumn colours are the most beautiful — and busiest — times. May and October are pleasant with smaller crowds.
Getting there and visas
Fly into Tokyo (Narita or Haneda), with direct flights from Delhi and Mumbai. Indian passport holders need a Japanese tourist visa — we help with the documentation.
Good to know
- The Shinkansen (bullet train) is the fastest way between cities.
- Japan is largely cashless, but carry some yen for smaller shops and temples.
