Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1Overnight Volvo from Delhi

Board the evening Volvo from Delhi to Manali.

Day 2Manali and Lahaul excursion

Arrive, freshen up and take a short drive through the Atal Tunnel to Sissu in Lahaul to start acclimatising.

Day 3Manali to Kaza via Kunzum La

Cross Rohtang or the Atal Tunnel, follow the Chandra river through Batal and climb Kunzum La before descending into Spiti.

Day 4Kaza villages

Visit Key Monastery, Kibber, Chicham bridge, the fossil village of Langza and the world’s highest post office at Hikkim.

Day 5Tabo, Dhankar and Pin Valley

Drive down-valley to Tabo Monastery, Dhankar’s cliff-top gompa and the green Pin Valley, returning to Kaza.

Day 6Kaza to Chandratal

Recross Kunzum La and walk to Chandratal, the crescent lake. Overnight in camps.

Day 7Chandratal to Manali and Delhi

Drive back to Manali and board the overnight Volvo to Delhi.
